Maggie Duerwachter '22
Maggie Duerwachter graduated in fall of 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a GIS certificate. Maggie had no idea what GIS was when she started at St. Thomas, but she took some elective courses to complement her biology degree. Little did she know it would become her full-time job! Maggie took a GIS internship on a whim after graduating, and after a brief stint at another public agency she recently started a new position as a GIS Specialist for the City of Brooklyn Park. She works with departments across the city such as planning, forestry, public safety, and utilities. Maggie has created maps for emerald ash borer grants, crime statistics, lead service line replacement, and citywide summer garden competitions. Every day is different, and she is always learning new skills and building on the foundation she developed at St. Thomas.
